"Supporting en"If you’ve got a start-up, a growing business or an established enterprise that you want to take to the next level, we’re here to help. Co-creating with Nottingham’s vibrant SME community is at the heart of everything we do, in order to connect Nottingham Trent University and the wider enterprise eco-system."

I've been worried about my current job prospects because there are so many good people I can't compare myself to, so I've been trying out jobs in the garment industry and garment support industry in my spare time at undergraduate and postgraduate level, picking out jobs that I think are a good fit and make me feel comfortable in.

In a previous conversation with Laura McPherson. I asked her “how can you be sure if you are passionate about your career or if it is simply to support yourself and your family? "For an artist art often comes from a love and a long term commitment to yourself, if you are constantly wondering if you are the right person for what you want to do, it is better to start doing it immediately, that way you will see far more results than if you are there thinking about everything that comes next." She then went on to briefly describe her journey as a freelancer and the help she had received from companies in NTU. So after the communication I was more sure of how the road ahead should be implemented and planned step by step.

I admired the entrepreneur's sense of conviction, but I also wondered if we as international students could get a visa and stay in the city we like to work in and get paid for it.

Because I learnt that once your UK visa as a student expires it means you have to apply for a different type of visa to stay here, which not only involves paying a lot of cash but also competing with freshers of the same age group to do so.
This is because non-British nationals have not always been treated as fairly as locals when applying for jobs. With more community and independent organisations in schools starting to support international creators and small businesses, I really hope that the government and companies will take effective action to create more opportunities in the future to help non-UK citizens achieve their desire to stay in the city they love.
